Grace Notes On Stage—Ages 8—12 (Tuesdays from 6pm to 8pm)

Have you ever wanted to sing like they do on Broadway? This class combines acting, singing & stage movement—the key ingredients of the musical theatre art form. Learn how to use your voice correctly & effectively, then transfer those skills to the unique requirements of stage performance. Every student will learn to sing together in a group setting as well as have the opportunity to do solo work. You will learn correct posture and breathing techniques, phrasing and how to stay on pitch, learn to read/sightsing music, and rehearse a performance. The core of the class is vocal work, but we will also engage with acting and basic stage movement skills to put the music together with the theatre. Warm-up & improvisational games, breathing exercises, study of appropriate repertoire, audition tips, interpretation of lyrics and character creation are all part of the program. At the end of the 15 weeks, students will perform an ensemble number and solos and/or duets for friends and family. Limit 12 students. This course is taught by Brian Breen, an experienced teacher and performer.
