Ronald Rodriguez was born in Cartagena, Colombia. He is a classical and Jazz pianist. He started playing piano at the age of eight. At the age of eleven, Ronald started playing with local jazz groups in Cartagena and was part of the Cartagena Caribe Big Band. He took lessons with Amilkar Rodriguez, an outstanding Colombian music professor graduated from Universidad Nacional of Colombia. Ronald completed his Bachelor's degree in Music Performance at Northwestern State University of Louisiana where he studied with Dr. Francis Yang. While at Northwestern State he performed in several ensembles that include Wind symphonies, Symphony orchestra, Jazz orchestra , collaborative pianist and choirs. He served as teacher for the Northwestern State University Music Academy for young students and taught in local schools. Currently, he teaches at Grace Notes School of Music in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and he is an active performer in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans music scene. Ronald has achieved several things in the music field. He was one of the winners of the Red River Radio Young Artists competition in 2015. He also has been selected to perform three consecutive years at the McCutcheon's Honors Recital which is a concert performed by the best students in each instrument category. He performed under the Keyboard category in 2016-2018. In addition, He is one of the winners of the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra Concerto/Aria competition in 2017 performing Gershwin Concerto in F for piano and orchestra. Currently, he is pursuing his doctorate in Music Performance at Louisiana State University under the instruction of Dr. Willis Delony. He has performed recitals and taught in several countries included the United States, Colombia and Cuba.
