James Armfield

Piano Faculty


A passionate enthusiast for art song, Lieder, and chamber music, pianist James Armfield is dedicated to creating art through the joy of collaboration. He particularly enjoys working with vocalists and has frequently collaborated with singers spanning a wide range of repertoire. James also enjoys collaborating with larger-scale ensembles, and has performed with the Brevard Music Center Sinfonia, as well as worked with the Mercer Singers.

A native of Atlanta, James currently resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at Louisiana State University, and studies collaborative piano under Dr. Ana Maria Otamendi. In May of 2023, James graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Piano Performance and Economics. His previous teachers include Ms. Elizabeth Pridgen, Dr. Ian Altman, Dr. Tim McReynolds, and Dr. Kyung-a Yoo.

James joined the faculty of the Grace Notes School of Music in August of 2023.
