Berenice Carrera

Berenice Carrera, an accomplished Ecuadorian mezzo-soprano, made her solodebutalongside the National Conservatory of Ecuador. Since then, she has performedinvarious esteemed platforms, including the Opera Express Company in Quito, Ecuador, the Eklund Opera at the University of Colorado Boulder, and the Turner Fisher Centerfor Opera at Louisiana State University as well as Opera in the Ozarks. Recognizedforher exceptional artistry, Berenice emerged as a finalist in the prestigious 2024MadameRose Palmai-Tenser Competition. Recently, she brought to life the character of Bernarda Alba in the collegiate premiere of Griffin Candey's "La Casa de BernardaAlba.” Berenice is also a dedicated educator with a rich background in teaching. Before arriving in the United States, she ran a private studio in Ecuador, wheresheworked with both children and adults. Since 2022, she has been contributingherexpertise to undergraduate students at LSU. Currently finalizing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at LSU, Berenice continues to refine her artistry under the tutelageof Dr. Lori Bade
